Alicia Dixon Docter, Vice PresidentAlicia strives to make food and nutrition messaging down-to-earth, science-based, accessible, realistic, and food-based. This has been her approach, whether training those who help feed kids; counseling teenagers (athletes, incarcerated, disordered eating, etc.); or authoring a book.
Alicia is excited to serve on the WIN Board. She spent 40+ years in the nutrition field, first in Northern California, working with teachers, administrators, and school food service to promote nutrition education in the state and nationally. Moving to Washington in 1985, she trained at the University of Washington (UW) where doctors, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and dietitian/nutritionists collaborated to provide effective care for teens and families. After earning a Masters in Nutrition from the UW, Alicia had a private practice in the Seattle area; staffed a clinic at Seattle Children’s; and was faculty for the UW adolescent program. Living on Whidbey for 6 years, Alicia hopes to contribute to the community by helping provide leadership, and guidance on food and nutrition policies, for WIN. She loves to hike, bike, travel, garden, cook and bake, and spend time with her husband, her daughter and her family, as well as friends from near and far. |
